Thelen Elevates Thirteen to Partner

'

Thelen LLP announced today that thirteen associates have been elected to the partnership, effective January 1, 2008. Six of the new partners are from the firm's Business and Finance practice and four belong to the Commercial Litigation department, keeping in line with the firm's core strengths. Two of the new partners practice in the area of Construction and Government Contracts and one is a new Labor and Employment partner.

Thelen's newest partners are:

Alexandra Epand (Los Angeles/Commercial Litigation): Ms. Epand's practice is primarily concentrated on corporate and securities litigation involving SEC, NASD, CFTC, PCAOB investigations, and enforcement actions. Ms. Epand has experience representing corporations, directors, and officers in a wide variety of complex business litigation including actions involving allegations of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, insider trading, and unfair business practices. Ms. Epand has also represented lawyers, brokers, agents, auditors, and accountants in malpractice matters and investigations. A graduate of the University of Southern California, Ms. Epand holds a JD from Pepperdine University School of Law.

Hermann Ferré (New York/Commercial Litigation): Mr. Ferré is a commercial litigator with experience in all phases of civil litigation in federal and state courts, including motion practice, discovery, evidentiary hearings, and trials and appeals. Mr. Ferré is also experienced in alternative dispute resolution, including international arbitrations under the Commercial Arbitration Rules of the AAA and ICC Rules of International Arbitration. His substantive areas of experience include energy, construction, business law, international law, and civil RICO. A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mr. Ferré holds a JD from New York University School of Law.

Jennifer J. Goldberg (New York/Business and Finance): Ms. Goldberg practices in the firm's Business Department and the corporate and securities practice group. She focuses on utility finance, representing issuers and underwriters in capital markets transactions, as well as mergers and acquisitions, and other corporate finance transactions. A graduate of the University of Rochester, Ms. Goldberg holds a JD from Fordham Law School.

Jennifer L. Goldberg (Los Angeles/Labor and Employment): Ms. Goldberg represents employers and individuals in all aspects of state and federal labor and employment litigation including jury trials, binding arbitration, and mediations. She specializes in claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, defamation, and other workplace torts. She also has extensive work advising clients with respect to litigation prevention tactics, employee relations including traditional labor law matters, conducting workplace investigations, wage and hour audits, developing workplace handbook and policies, and all matters of representation before state and federal agencies such as the EEOC, Department of Fair Employment and Housing, Department of Labor, National Labor Relations Board, Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, and the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board. A graduate of the University of Southern California, Ms. Goldberg holds a JD from UCLA School of Law.

Andrea Lachenmayr (Washington DC/Business and Finance): Ms. Lachenmayr is a member of the Firm's Business and Finance Department and infrastructure and asset finance practice group. She specializes in project finance, mergers and acquisitions and private equity investments in energy projects, ports and other infrastructure assets, representing project companies, sponsors, investors and lenders. A graduate of Wesleyan University, Ms. Lachenmayr holds a JD from Georgetown University Law Center.

Andrew Lucano (New York/Business and Finance): Mr. Lucano concentrates his practice in representing clients in mergers and acquisitions, general corporate and securities matters, and public and private financings. Mr. Lucano has extensive experience in securities law compliance and corporate governance matters. He regularly advises public companies regarding periodic reporting obligations and other Securities and Exchange Commission related matters. In the mergers and acquisitions area, Mr. Lucano has represented both sellers and buyers in a range of public and private transactions, including numerous transactions in the communications industry. In addition, Mr. Lucano represents underwriters, placement agents, and issuers in connection with a variety of securities offerings, including registered direct transactions and exchange offers. A graduate of State University of New York at Albany, he holds a JD from St. John's University School of Law.

Michael S. McNamara (Washington DC/Construction and Government Contracts): Mr. McNamara concentrates his practice on construction-related disputes. His experience includes delay and impact claims, defective plans and specifications, defective construction claims, and all aspects of civil litigation from the discovery process through the trial and appellate levels. He has also represented clients in alternative dispute resolution, including both mediation and arbitration. In addition to construction disputes, he has experience in commercial litigation, including toxic torts and product liability. A graduate of Duke University, he holds a JD from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law.

Daniel Muller (Silicon Valley/Commercial Litigation): Mr. Muller practices Federal and state court litigation at the administrative, trial, and appellate level under various labor and employment laws and regulations, including the National Labor Relations Act, federal and state civil rights laws, wage & hour and prevailing wage laws, family and other leave laws, occupational safety and health laws, plant closing laws, employee benefit continuation statutes, privacy laws, unfair competition laws and common law "wrongful termination" doctrines. A graduate of Santa Clara University, he holds a JD from Emory University School of Law.

Bobbi O'Connor (New York/Business and Finance): Ms. O'Connor is a member of the firm's corporate and finance practice group, specializing in in corporate finance, securities law and general corporate matters. She principally represents utility clients and underwriters in capital markets transactions, including issuances of secured and unsecured debt securities, securitization bonds, municipal bonds relating to pollution control facilities, convertible and hybrid securities and common stock. Ms. O'Connor also counsels corporate issuers on their ongoing disclosure obligations pursuant to the Securities Exchange Act. A graduate of Loyola College in Maryland, she holds a JD from Hofstra University School of Law.

Martin Onorato (Hartford/Construction and Government Contracts): Mr. Onorato focuses his practice in matters concerning construction contracts, claims, and disputes. His construction industry clients include architects, engineers, contractors, trade contractors, sureties, owners, and consultants. He has advised clients on contracts and claims regarding a wide array of public and private construction, including schools, casinos, distribution facilities, universities, bridges, hospitals, assisted living facilities, and laboratories. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a former architect, he holds a JD from Syracuse University College of Law.

Donald Ousterhout (San Francisco/Business and finance): Mr. Ousterhout is a member of the firm's infrastructure and asset finance practice group, specializing in corporate, project finance, commercial and securities law matters, including equity investments in energy projects, EPC contracts, sales and service agreements for power generation equipment, stock purchases, mergers and acquisitions, asset transfers, general business agreements, corporate formation, and general corporate counseling. A graduate of The Johns Hopkins University, he holds a JD from University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

Edward Rogan (San Francisco/Business and Finance): Mr. Rogan is a member of the firm's infrascture and asset finance practice group. His practice includes domestic and international infrastructure project transactions, with primary emphasis on the representation of developers, contractors, equipment manufacturers, and operators involved in renewable energy projects. His expertise includes the preparation and negotiation of site acquisition agreements; engineering, procurement, and construction agreements; subcontracting agreements; equipment supply, installation, and testing agreements; operation and maintenance agreements; and related project contracts. A graduate of State University of New York at Albany, he holds a JD from University of San Diego School of Law.

John Schaub (Silicon Valley/Commercial Litigation): Mr. Schaub specializes in patents, trademarks, copyrights, and intellectual property. Mr. Schaub´s technical expertise includes computer systems and computer software. His technical experience includes smart card technology, Internet applications, business methods, cryptography, network equipment, compiler and interpreter technology, program verification, computer graphics, attitude control systems, hardware/software interfaces, user interfaces, simulators and communication systems for spacecraft and aircraft. A graduate of Marquette University, he holds a Masters in Computer Science from The Johns Hopkins University and a JD from The George Washington University Law School.
