Additionally, we provide advice to firms doing business abroad with respect to the extraterritorial application of the U.S. antitrust laws.

Thelen's antitrust attorneys also provide advice on legal issues related to mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances, standards-setting activities, domestic and international pre-merger notification requirements, the Robinson-Patman Act, the National Cooperative Research Act, corporate compliance policies, trade association practices, and other trade regulation matters. We also have major experience in the field of antitrust exemptions, including the agricultural and labor exemptions, the Non-Profit Institutions Act exemption to the Robinson-Patman Act, and the McCarran-Ferguson Act insurance exemption.

Our firm's antitrust counseling experience includes advice concerning Hart-Scott-Rodino Act filings, counseling with respect to pricing and marketing practices, representation of both trade associations and companies considering membership in trade associations, complete "antitrust audits" of corporations, labor/antitrust matters, "interlock" issues arising under sections 8 and 10 of the Clayton Act, and  patent/antitrust issues.

Thelen attorneys have particular experience in the area of franchising, and are familiar with all the different methods for establishing and expanding a franchise network. We also work with clients on the business advantages and disadvantages of franchising, as well as the myriad of state franchise regulations and related corporate issues.
